Billy Block's Western Beat is EVERY Tuesday Night at Exit/In - 2208 Elliston Place, Nashville, TN

Bee Speed

Bee Speed - 8:00 pm
Bee Speed is a unique, high-energy trio featuring electric banjo, bass and drums. Their debut record showcases the musicianship and rich compositions, which are becoming trademarks of the band. Bee Speed fuses the many influences and techniques of bluegrass, Latin, rock, and world music to create a sound that is all its own. On the electric banjo, Charles Butler has found a distinct voice, one that is light on twang and heavy on tones and articulation more usual in the guitar world. Bassist Christian Grizzard, and drummer Justin Amaral are at ease laying down intricate foundations in a multitude of styles. Together, the three members of Bee Speed are driven by a common desire to push themselves and the music in new directions.

Shed
Shed - 8:30 pm
Shed is a group that has enough respect to learn the rules before they proceed to break them. Think: love child of Axel Rose and Waylon Jennings. Their story reads like a classic country tale. From empty dive bars to farmers markets and county fairs, these guys have paid the cost; and they’ve had a great time doing it. Tim La Roche fronts the band with his sharp vocal style and guitar playing. Josh Vest, a former heavy metal convert, provides hard rockin’, honky tonk riffs on the bass. And drummer Tim Thurber throws down thunder on the drums. The trio forms a tight, cohesive unit that is as country as they come with rock sensibilities.

Kimberly Quinn

Kimberly Quinn - 9:00 pm
Her voice is smooth and expressive, clear with a little edge to it, raw but defined. Kimberly Quinn has a confidence and command on stage that stretches beyond her years. Her sound is country with threads of rock n’ roll mixed within it. She is a musician in her own right, whose skills back up her powerful voice and presence. Quinn also writes her own material, which adds depth to her performances. Kimberly Quinn has a charisma on and off stage that defies description. Her voice is the perfect vehicle for her edgy, carefully crafted country songs. She is a performer on her way to changing the landscape of country music for the better.

Chris Young

Chris Young - 9:30 pm
If his 6’4” frame doesn’t grab your attention, his big old baritone will. Country Stars Online recently said, Chris Young’s name is “easy to remember, but his voice is impossible to forget”, and we couldn’t sum it up any better. He’s old-school country, flavored with Randy Travis and Marty Robbins, but his voice holds an originality that runs from Dwight Yoakam twangy to Frank Sinatra smooth. He’s traveled the country playing everywhere from Kennedy Center in Washington to the Country Thunder Festival in Wisconsin. He connects -no matter the age of the listener. Give him 5 minutes; you’ll realize country ain’t just for your parents anymore.

The Dealers

The Dealers - 10:00 pm
It’s called Austin Rock. And if you want to hear what it sounds like, just listen to The Dealers, a Texas band that kicks ass then kisses and makes up. The Dealers know how to hold a crowd and move them at the same time. They’re really the rarest of the great bar bands, playing mostly original music and hardly anybody knows it. When playing live, they are a spontaneous force, like a freight train one moment and a hobo’s lullaby the next. They are bass guitar player Tim Casterline, rhythm guitar player Rick Hornyak, lead guitar player Jonas Lorence, and drummer Jason Potts. With a great sound and an equally good live show, the Dealers are fast on the rise.
